Bhalla has received his Ph.D. in Social Work from Washington University, St. Louis and M.A. in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences with specialization on Family and Child Welfare. Presently he is associated with various NGOs which educate, counsel and help prisoners and drug abusers to reform as well as he is an active writer of many books and journals. He is a sought after speaker on social, professional and leadership issues. He instituted a number of measures such as detoxification and literacy programs.
